Dr. Sharief Taraman is the Division Chief of General Pediatric Neurology for the CHOC Children’s Specialists, Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor and the Clinical Informatics Fellowship Site Director at CHOC for the University of California-Irvine, and the Chief Medical Officer at Cognoa, a Silicon Valley based startup developing AI-based Software as Medical Devices for neuro-behavioral & developmental Digital Precision Health.
He is a dual board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Clinical Informatics Diplomate of the American Board of Preventative Medicine.
Dr. Taraman is also one of CHOC Children’s Medical Infomaticists and works directly with the Chief Medical Information Officer to develop and implement technology to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. Dr. Taraman is actively involved in the Sharon Disney Lund Medical Intelligence & Innovation Institute at CHOC Children’s and has been on the faculty for AIMed since the inaugural meeting.
Dr. Taraman is active in the community as a board member of the AAP Orange County Chapter, Irvine Unified School District Medical Advisory Board, and volunteering for Girl Scouts of Orange County and the Capistrano Unified School District.
His research interests include neurotechnology (brain/computer interfaces), nanotechnology, bioinformatics, and traumatic brain injury
