Dr. Vachon is a practicing radiologist with high expectations for AI in medicine. He was awarded a scholarship for medical school and attended the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda Maryland as an active duty Naval Officer. After internship, he was trained as a Flight Surgeon and served with the Marine Corps for 2 years, deploying 7 months in the Persian Gulf. He completed his radiology residency at the Naval Hospital in San Diego and his final duty was Radiology Department Head at the Naval Hospital in Okinawa where he lived for 2 years. In total, he spent 16 years in the Navy in many leadership roles and received national recognition in inter department collaboration, patient safety and informatics.
Now out of the Navy and living in San Diego, he consults with small and large companies assisting with technology integration in healthcare. His most recent print publication “A Radiologist’s Introduction to AI and Machine Learning” has been delivered to over 1800 practicing radiologists worldwide with the goal of educating his peers and advancing our field, one person at a time.
